Someone's gotta teach em

-Alright yall... Who aint teaching their kids how to change a tire? Listen, I’m no parent so I can’t speak from experience but just the other night I pull over to a crying teenager on the side of the road with a flat. Phone dead, coming home late, no jack, no tire iron and absolutely no know-how. I often notice people frustrated at the younger generations for not knowing how to do certain things when in actuality no one has taken the time to teach them.

-Continuing off the above note, just because it’s obvious to you doesn’t mean that it is to someone else. I truly do believe that there’s no such thing as a bad question. This weekend, if you’ve got a new driver on the road in your family, I’d advise you to walk through the “basics” with them. Even if you have before and even if you think they know. Let them try, fail, and make mistakes. Be patient and help someone learn. How to change a tire, how to jump start a battery, how to safely pull off to a shoulder if there’s an emergency, how to safely slow down for an animal, where to keep your insurance, registration and license, and how to behave if you’re pulled over. Just because nearly everyone drives these days doesn’t mean that nearly everyone knows how to do it all safely. Also, STOP USING YOUR PHONES WHILE DRIVING!!!! I know you think you’re the exception and I can assure you that you are not.
