Ready to say no?

-How to say no, you may ask? Do you feel that little twinge of guilt and dread in your stomach when you have to turn down a client request or ask for more money? Maybe you’re already typing something along the lines of “Well, DC. I think being a people pleaser is why my clients like me!” Hell, I reckon so too! It’s also probably why you’re rushing to every single email even if it comes in at 2am, not getting paid what you’re worth, and complaining to yourself that every outside factor is what makes your job impossible. You aint a people pleaser, amigo. You’re a masochist with a job that feels like 2 and pays like half of one. My clients love that I say no. They trust that I know what I’m talking about, know what I’m doing, and we also treat each other with respect. Confidence doesn’t make you a bad person

-Charging like an amateur and expecting to be paid like a pro is a recipe for disaster. Sabrina S. Santiago puts it excellently in a lot of her posts. We often limit ourselves and set up roadblock after roadblock then wonder why we’re stressed and not being paid enough. In my opinion the first step is knowledge, the next step is finding the confidence in yourself to ask what you’re worth, learning to politely say no without any remorse, and start working FOR yourself instead of AGAINST yourself with the systems you have in place
